The Foundation Degree in Photography at Truro College Higher Education Faculty is directed towards photographic practice with all students participating in the creation of original work using both traditional analogue and digital technologies. It is an intensive, practical based course which provides the opportunity for students to study photography and associated technology in modern, purpose-built facilities. Taught sessions are delivered by the course team, you will also meet visiting lecturers at throughout year – all are working photographers. Other disciplines such as graphic design, book production, video making and web design are also studied so that students can produce work that is both creative and commercially relevant. Student groups are small and have excellent student to staff ratios. The department provides personal and supportive teaching in a friendly and professional environment.

Facilities

The course emphasis is on photographic practice with all students participating in the creation of original work using both traditional silver-based techniques and the latest digital technology. Other disciplines such as graphic design, book production, video making and web design are also covered so that you can produce work that is both creative and commercially relevant.

The course has dedicated facilities that include a large photographic studio equipped with flash lighting, a colour and black and white darkroom and Apple Mac and PC computer suites with digital printers. We have a range of camera formats available including Canon, Mamiya and Hasselblad Digital SLRs alongside medium and large format film cameras.

Students are taught by experienced lecturers who are also practitioners with relevant industrial and creative backgrounds. The course also features visiting lecturers from a wide range of disciplines.
